The 5 Human Design types

Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, Reflector: how to tell them apart.

Your type summarizes how you are designed to use your energy. It is not your whole identity: it is a practical frame for choices.

The five types

  • Generator: defined sacral, response strategy - wait for something to respond to before acting. Signature: satisfaction. Not-self: frustration.
  • Manifesting Generator: sacral plus throat access; same response logic, with more momentum once engaged. Signature: satisfaction (and peace). Not-self: frustration (and anger).
  • Projector: no defined sacral; here to guide and see others - wait for the invitation. Signature: success. Not-self: bitterness.
  • Manifestor: initiates; informs before acting to reduce resistance. Signature: peace. Not-self: anger.
  • Reflector: no defined centers, rare; mirrors the environment and needs a lunar cycle for major decisions. Signature: surprise. Not-self: disappointment.

How to read it on a chart

Type is derived from defined centers and body configuration (sacral, motors to throat, etc.). On Body Graph Studio, it appears automatically with the matching strategy.
