Gate 53 (Development) sits in the Root. It pushes structured development: starting so the cycle can advance, even if the same person need not finish everything. Boredom and feeling stuck appear when the same theme stagnates too long.
Without Gate 42 (Growth), Gate 53 can start and abandon without maturation force. Together they form the Channel of Maturation (42-53).
